Created by two cancer surTHRIVERS (Annette Ramke and Kendall Scott), The Kicking Kitchen’s mission is to empower, inspire and educate women – whether facing cancer or not – in finding their food groove and making positive lifestyle choices so they can feel stronger, healthier and happier. The Kicking Kitchen offers support through their book, Kicking Cancer in the Kitchen, as well as health coaching programs, webinars, virtual programs and recipes.
We practice an integrative and holistic approach to health and wellness, which means we look at how all areas of one’s life are connected. Our approach is not to dwell on calories, carbs, fats, and proteins. It is not to create lists of restrictions or good and bad foods. Instead, we support adding in quality, whole foods and focusing on a plant-based diet, while naturally crowding out highly refined, processed foods and large amounts of animal foods. We also support a flexitarian approach – meaning that since no one diet is right for every person, we all must learn to be flexible in our own diets, listening to our bodies and discovering what foods work best for each of us. We believe in having fun, being flexible and loving food, life and getting in the kitchen.
We received training and certification as Health Coaches from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition‘s Health Coach Training Program. We have also received board certification through the American Association of Drugless Practitioners (AADP).
During our training, we studied over 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques, holistic and integrative health practices, and innovative coaching methods with some of the world’s top health and wellness experts. Our teachers included Dr. Andrew Weil, Director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine; Dr. Deepak Chopra, leader in the field of mind-body medicine; Dr. David Katz, Director of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center; Dr. Walter Willett, Chair of Nutrition at Harvard University; Geneen Roth, bestselling author and expert on emotional eating; and many other leading researchers and nutrition authorities.
Our education has equipped us with extensive knowledge in holistic nutrition, health coaching, and preventive health.
